This all-new model from Catalina incorporates crisp, contemporary styling with proportions and features that make Catalinas comfortable and secure underway and on the hook.

Based on a new hull design with a long waterline and moderate beam and freeboard, the 445 will have excellent performance potential. The hull form is optimized to provide the gentle, predictable motion underway, which is so appreciated in other Catalina models.

The deck is strikingly handsome with a low profile cabin structure, twin helm stations and a roomy cockpit with tall, secure comfortable coamings and a cockpit table that seats 4-6. The deck is finished with a traditional diamond-patterned non-skid.

The owner's cabin is forward for privacy and optimum ventilation. Private head access from the forward cabin along with a electric head and separate shower complete the forward cabin arrangement. The guest cabin is aft with a large comfortable double berth, angled for easy access and greater headroom.

This new design incorporates a innovative cabin on the port side. This cabin is a flexible space that can easily be converted to whatever your cruising style dictates at the time-sleeping quarters, storage, or a work room with a bench. The galley has the storage and features needed for extended cruising.

Catalina 375 Winner 2009 " Best All-Purpose Cruiser", 30 to 40 Feet2008-12-15
When it came time for the Boat of the Year judges to settle on the Best All-Purpose Cruiser, thing 30 to 40 Feet, it was the devilishly clever details that designer Gerry Douglas packed into the Catalina 375 that settled things.

The 375 replaces the popular Catalina 36, and the new boat's design relies heavily on feedback collected from owners of its predecessor. Customers. for instance told Catalina that they like to entertain, so the 375 has a big, roomy cockpit for doing just that. Below, the main saloon is a versatile living space where friends and family can gather around a port side bulkhead-mounted fold out table that can be opened wide to seat a crowd or left smaller for a more intimate dinner. Or when a couple is alone, they might sit to starboard in comfortable seats and enjoy a light meal on a cocktail table that can be dropped to make a settee or sea berth for a small crew member. Other interior details that impressed the judges were cedar-lined drawers a cabinets and a file drawer for keeping ship's papers. Judge Stacey Collins also noted that from the well-laid-out galley, it would be convenient to pass food up to the cockpit. Even the silverware drawer, she added, is well positioned: It can be opened and the table set without disturbing the cook.

Many Catalina owners, says Douglas, also enjoy working on their boats, hence the 360-degree access to the 40-horsepower Yanmar diesel and drains set at the low point of the water system so that when it comes time to winterize, the tanks can be emptied into the bilge sump.

On deck, Seldom in-mast furling and a Schaefer genoa furler are standard equipment, as are the Garhauer blocks and traveler.

Roomy fore and aft cabins have well-proportioned double berths and real mattresses: one head with a separate shower- complete the layout of the 375.

In their deliberations, the judges concluded that the 375 is noteworthy for its solid construction and the evident attention to amenities designed to make onboard life more comfortable.

Judges' Notes:
*A split anchor locker can easily store two rodes.
*Catalina constructs its shower curtains from lightweight spinnaker cloth, which dries quickly.
*When the 375 is under way, a bench/footstool for the saloon folds and stores at the head of the aft berth.
Catalina 445 Sails Away With Multiple Awards

2010-01-07
LARGO, FL (January 7, 2010) – Two of the leading U.S. sailing publications, Sail and Cruising World, canvassed the docks at the United States Sailboat Show in Annapolis, Maryland this past October, to inspect in depth new model sailboats that will be seen on the water in 2010. The new Catalina 445, designed and built by Catalina Yachts in Largo, Florida sailed away with major awards from both publications.

When it came time for Cruising World to pick the Best Full-Size Cruiser between 40 and 50 feet, three boats in the running each brought unique features to the table. But in the end, the Catalina 445 was named the winner for each of the unique, individual features that came together as a whole. "This may partly be due to the fact that one man—Catalina designer Gerry Douglas—is responsible for all of the various elements of the design," reported Bill Springer, editor and sailing expert from Cruising World. "He's been Catalina's chief designer for years, and during our dockside inspection, he told us how he works to incorporate all of the lessons learned from previous designs with all of the owner feedback he's received," he said.

Cruising World'sBoat of the Year award came right on the heels of the Catalina 445 winning Sail magazine's Best Cruising Monohull Under 50 Feet. "One encouraging trend that we have seen in recent years is a marked improvement in the overall design and construction of production fiberglass cruising boats," reported the collective team of judges at Sail magazine. "The best example this year is the new Catalina 445, which astutely balances the often competing dictates of comfort, convenience, performance and functionality."

In an industry-breaking record, Catalina's last three new models have all won Boat of the Year awards. The Catalina 309 won two awards in '07: The Best Small Cruiser and Domestic Boat of the Year. The 375 won Best All-Purpose Cruiser in '09. Now, in 2010, the 445 is the Best Full-Size Cruiser and Best Cruising Monohull under 50'. No other builder reportedly has a record of winning these awards for consecutive new models.

Each of these yachts will be on display at the Strictly Sail Boat Show in Chicago, January 28-31, which means the company will have an all-out award-winning display.

"This is a rare opportunity for Catalina," reported Ron Frisosky, sales representative for Catalina. "One boat winning awards from the two leading national sailing publications in a depressed economy means Catalina has a firm grasp on the market share in the 40-foot+ sailboat manufacturing industry," he said.

Catalina Yachts is in its 40th year of building the largest selection of honest, sturdy boats that hold up to real world conditions, perform well and cost less to maintain. For Catalina owners, this means lots of extra value and enhanced sailing pleasure, with the added bonus of excellent resale value.
